Upper School Production of “Hobson's Choice” Opens Thursday, November 13

Upper School students are putting the final touches on their fall production of “Hobson’s Choice,” which opens this Thursday, November 13, at 4 p.m. in the Renda Black Box Theater.

Set in Brooklyn in 1880, “Hobson’s Choice” centers around Henry Hobson’s boot shop: a successful family business with a dysfunctional family at its core. Hobson tries to rule his home with a quick temper and booming voice, but his three daughters want out.

Hobson considers Maggie, the eldest, too old and bossy to marry, but she is determined to take her fate into her own hands. Spotting both talent and potential in Will Mossop, a humble shoemaker, Maggie boldly declares they’ll wed, drags him out from under Hobson’s thumb, and sets up a competing business.

A tale of pride, independence, and unlikely romance, “Hobson’s Choice” shows what can happen when underdogs team up to make their own rules.

The talented and dedicated cast and crew of 36 students have put in a tremendous amount of work since mid-September to get this show ready for you. In addition to the early "Opening Naut" showtime on November 13, there will be evening performances on November 14 and 15 at 7 p.m.

Don’t miss your chance to see them under the bright lights!
